ROSENWURZ OR RHODIOLA ROSEA
The 5 to 35 centimeters high Rhodiola rosea L. belongs to the family of thick-leaf worms (Crassulaceae). It got its name from Carl von Linn & eacute because of the rose-like odor of a freshly cut rootstock. This interesting plant, originally native to Arctic regions, is found in Alaska, Scandinavia, Siberia, North America, the Himalayas, as well as in alpine zones of the European high mountains up to 4500 meters altitude. Rose root is also common in crevices in plateaus and sea cliffs.
